What hobby is simple and interesting to take up?

Question by Enero: What hobby is simple and interesting to take up?
I have a friend who has been overworked and overstressed and basically got to the point that she doesn't think anything else other than how bad things at work is. I think she is getting depressed about the situation but she doesn't admit it. Please help me find an easy hobby she would live to do in order to take her mind away from work, and have something interesting to do.

I am open to all suggestions.

You can buy a special knife for chip carving. You use a medium to hard wood and can create paterns, designs and art on it.

The second link goes right to a web page with suplies.
I enjoy chip caring on custom wood picture frames that I make.

Making clay beads, scrap booking, painting, making beaded jewelery. You could get her started, and do it with her to make her feel better.

Cross-stitching! One gets very easily hooked up on it plus it is cheap and very rewarding indeed! Besides, one can advance from easier things to more challenging items, so it gives a great amount of brain gym too!
